Our Junior School robotics program for students in Years 5 and 6 is based on coding and programming robots. Robotics is a co-curricular activity run twice a week in the afternoon and is run by our team mentors and FRC team members. Students learn how to code a Lego robot to achieve tasks and build the robot to be the most efficient it can be. Students refer to their cognitive thinking to achieve tasks such as picking up objects and delivering them somewhere else by running their robots from code. The students also participate in the FIRST Lego League in two separate teams. They learn to code beforehand, and can also practice regularly with Spheros and with Darkinjung Barker students every fortnight. This program has been running since 2015.
